Repurposing Snow Part Deux Plus a Shell Project

Ask and ye shall receive! I was musing a couple of days ago about a way to repurpose snow, and don’t I actually find a way last night! I was going through my saved material for all the ebooks that I have in progress right now and I come across this little ditty about snow:
If you pile snow up around the foundation of your house, it will provide insulation, and help LOWER your heating costs! GO FIGURE!
I just thought it was a fluke, with rising oil/gas prices, that we were doing as good as we were on heat bills this year. Not that they were GOOD, mind you. They were just “better” than I had expected.
See all that snow piled up around my potting shed? That’s about two feet – all from one storm. I am now beginning to think that, if it’s going to be cold out, that added heat retention from the snow, is a *GOOD*.
So, since I’m “stuck” inside, I thought I’d use this creative time to make another easy, quick decorative piece. This time, however, I’m going to CELEBRATE the snow! Try this (Click on the picture to get a bigger view.):
This project only needed the following “parts”:
* Enough shells to cover the shade
* A hot-glue gun and glue
Easy assembly:
Starting at the top of the shade, glue shells in an even row around the top. Start the next row below the first and slightly overlap the upper row of shells with the next row of shells – like shingles. Continue gluing rows until your shade is covered. WAA LAA! You’re done! Mine came out like this (Click on the picture to get a bigger view.):

I couldn’t understand some parts of this article By Design : Repurposing Snow Part Deux Plus a Shell Project, but I guess I just need to check some more resources regarding this, because it sounds interesting.
