When I started writing my books, I talked to a lot of people about decorating challenges. One thing I heard A LOT was that books and shows were great, but there were so many things assumed when giving instructions on how to accomplish projects. Having had that same feeling myself, I made a vow that, when giving instructions for my designs, I’d leave little doubt as to how to accomplish the task.
This lead to a new category for my blog - Making it Happen Tips. Here, I’ll share tips I discover on how to “do” something easier. Feel free to share some of yours with me, as well.
I recently bought several marble-based cheese domes. I want to use them to display various things over the year. In January, I wanted to fill them with snow-frosted green grapes. I discovered this neat little trick to fill the domes and not lose all the “filling” when setting the glass dome on top of the marble base.
Put the glass dome upside down in a bowl like this (click on the picture to get a bigger view):
I set it on top of a clear glass cake plate and tied two snowflakes to the dome’s knob. I really liked how this came out!
But better than that, I liked learning this tip. It will make many future designs so much easier.
