Dressing your home, instead of yourself, with your Spring clothes

Scarf to pillow coverEven though we are getting some snow flurries today, it’s still spring and time to dig into those stored Spring outfits. I have found some of my Spring things and, instead of wearing them, I added them to my cottage decor - the pastel colors and the lightness of the fabrics just “fits” with that “cottage” theme.

The two projects featured here required no tools, one “skill” (tying two knots), and very, very little time. But they both look smashing, even though they were that easy and that quick. I just used a pair of gloves and a scarf. Here they are (click on the pictures for a bigger view):

Gloves as decor                Scarf to pillow cover

All I did with the gloves was lay them, thumbs down, on a pink glass plate. Notice that they are not laying right on top of each other - one is positioned at about a 45% angle. Then just set a ceramic piece or bowl on top of the gloves. I put my piece parallel to the front edge of the stand it sits on.

I just tied the scarf around the pillow. With two knots. In the back. I brought two ends that lie across from each together and tied a double knot. I brought the other two ends that lie across from each together and tied a double knot. I flipped the pillow over and placed it in the chair. Done!

I am planning more clothes-to-decor transformations. Keep watching for those!

Nancy
