Teacups, anyone?

 Teacup PhotosI realize it’s early but I have started making Christmas presents. I have a huge family, without even counting friends and colleagues. It is common for me to give more than sixty gifts at Christmas time. I am hoping to make a lot of those gifts this year – most people don’t “need” anything, so I’d like to give them something that has special meaning to them.

My best friend collects teacups. She has teacup and saucer  sets that belonged to her grandmother, as well as many others from special places and people in her life. She even made a wreath out of teacups (I am hoping to get a picture of that to show you all).

This design adds to her collection, PLUS I will be making copies of photos of her and my kids to display on the curled wires. If you have a special person that would like this as well, here’s how you can make some of these for yourself.

You’ll need:

* A teacup and saucer set

* Floral foam

* Spanish moss

* 1 yard heavy-gauge wire

* Beads in colors that coordinate with the colors in your teacup set

* Hot Glue and gluesticks

* Superglue (or any glue that can be used on china)

Start by gluing your cup and saucer together with the superglue. This will set up very quickly. Once it does, use hotglue to glue a piece floral foam in the bottom of your teacup. Cover that with spanish moss.

Cut your wire into three 1-foot lengths. Using the picture as a Teacup Photosguide, make your photo curls, threading your beads on as you make your curls. Use a little hotglue on the tip of your wire before pushing it into the floral foam.

Add photos and your gift is ready for giving. If you’d like another “teacup” idea, visit:

And if you’ve made this for yourself, GREAT! Enjoy…
