Hat on a doorNow that the weather has changed, we can open windows and do some decorating projects that require good ventilation. One of those projects is removing wallpaper so a room can be painted.

First, score the paper you are removing so the “remover” has many points of access.

Next, to get that wallpaper off easily, try spraying it with liquid fabric softener mixed with water, and put in a spray bottle. I have never measured the exact ratio, but something like 10-1 would work for one layer of wallpaper removal – 10 parts water to 1 part liquid fabric softener. Add fabric softener if the wallpaper doesn’t come off easily or if you have more layers to remove.

Let the wallpaper sit for a bit. I would do one full wall, and let it sit, while I did the next wall. The fabric softener will actually dissolve the wallpaper paste and your removal job should be MUCH easier.
