My free "Re-purposing Stuff" Test

Ok, this is going to be fun! Answer these questions and find out how creative you are and how many items you could be re- purposing! You'll need to give a real, live, working email address because that's where your answers will be sent.

And once you finish this, you'll start getting some quick, weekly, frugal decorating ideas from me via email. If you don't want those extra ideas, you probably don't want to take this little test.

1. Which of the following can easily be re-purposed into a lamp?

Suitcase
Ceiling fixture
Books

2. You've just come back from a seaside vacation where you have collected a few shells. Your MOST creative idea to re- purpose them would be to:

Put them in a bowl and set them on a shelf
Make them into a chandelier
Glue them to a wreath

3. You inherit your Grandmother's house, which is a 19th century Victorian. You are more into "contemporary" decor, yourself. You replace all the ceiling globes in the house with updated lighting fixtures. The ceiling globes you took down are:

Turned into candle holders
Wrapped up and put in the attic
Sold on Ebay

4. You have one of those deep-set clocks from the '70's - you, know, the ones with the the duck scenes, or wildlife prints inside a two-inch or so, deep frames, with the clock in the lower right corner. Some of these weren't "good decor" when they were new! You're idea of re-purposing it is to:

Send it to Goodwill
Give it to a relative who has no understanding of how to decorate
Turn it in to a table

5. What can you do with chandelier crystals?

Keep them on (or put them on ) a chandelier, silly!
Use them as lamp shade parts
Consider them "scrap glass" and recycle them

6. Christmas has come and gone. You are taking down your tree, but find storage space at a premium. You recycle the tree itself, but the lights are another story. You decide to:

Put them on the plants in your house for year-round use
Turn THEM into a tree
Throw them out - they came from the dollar store and replacing them next year is easier than trying to find a place for them

7. Time has passed and your family has somehow collected a lot of mis-matched silverware. You sort through the drawer and pull out the patterns you have only one or two pieces of. You:

Turn them into cabinet handles (WHAT!?!?!)
See which one of your kids wants them
Find yourself too attached to them (they have sentimental value, after all), and put them back in the drawer

8. You've been collecting teacups and matching saucers for several years now and your collection has expanded past the shelf space that you have allotted for it. It's time to:

Pack some up, put them in the basement and rotate the ones you have out
Move them to a bigger shelf
Re-purpose them into "fence art"

9. You are helping to plan a frugal wedding. Which of the following would be the MOST frugal idea?

Print your own invitations and response cards
Use terra cotta pots filled with ivy as table top decor
Use bird seed instead of confetti for throwing at the bride and groom

10. You've decided to display one of your collections on your fireplace mantel. All the pieces are about the same size and shape. You set up the display by:

Putting each piece of the collection side by side in a straight line on the mantel
Putting the pieces in clusters of three or fours at random spaces along the mantel
Putting the pieces at varying heights and spacing along the mantel
