Silverware Cabinet Handles
Sandra Johnson did these fabulous handles. Here’s what she told me you’ll need:
- As many pieces of silverware as you want to make handles
- 2 machine screws for each "handle"
How To:
- 1. I used my husband's drill press to drill out two holes in each piece of silverware. Using a drill bit the same size as the machine screws you’ll be using to hold the silverware, make a hole in both ends of the flatware. To determine where the holes should be, I used a skinny sharpie pen to mark where the holes should be by placing the flatware on the cabinet door, and marking the top hole. It isn't necessary to mark the bottom.
- 2. Using the same drill bit from the drill press, pre-drill the holes in the cabinet doors
- Attach flatware with the machine screws
- I cut off the screw ends after installing the flatware just so no one would accidentally cut themselves.
Tip - Some of my flatware is thin but most of it is pretty thick so I had to use the drill press. It would be difficult to hold a spoon one hand and drill with the other if you tried to lay the spoon on a hard surface.
