Tomato Support Christmas Tree
This was another easy one, and usable year around, not just for the holidays.. These are all the "parts" you need:
- 1 - tomato support
- 1 - bread tie
- 5 - strings of white mini Christmas lights, 100 lights per string
- 3 - sets of white mini light "ribbons" (these where 3 strings of mini Christmas lights woven together in a ribbon. I bought them that way. If you don't have/can't find them, you can use regular 100-light strings. You'll need 4-5 more).
Assemble as follows:
- 1. Turn the tomato support upside down so the circular part sits on the floor.
- 2. Use the bread tie to "tie" the tines together into a tip. I didn't have to cut anything. And the bread tie held just fine.
- 3. Put the strings of Christmas lights on, but weave them UP and DOWN, versus going around and around the tomato support. These tomato supports have 3 circular braces on them. I wove the Christmas lights up and down, in and out of those circles. Doing this covers the bottom half of the tomato support. And doing it this way, when a string burns out, you can easily remove it and add a good one.
- I looked inside the interior cone of the topiary and saw that a lot of the Christmas lights pointed inwardly and could not be seen. So I turned all of those outward so that all Christmas lights were exposed to the exterior of the topiary.
- I then wound the three sets of mini light ribbons AROUND the upper part (the pointed part) of the over-turned tomato support. I used the tines to hold the Christmas lights on at the very tip.
Ok, you’re done! Make a few of these and use them year around in your garden or on either side of your front door.
